Bill Ivans International Trade Award 2008 to be presented to Timely Medical Innovations
May 02, 2008 -- The San Diego Area District Export Council announces that the 2008 Bill Ivans International Trade Award will be presented to Michael Grad, President and CEO for Timely Medical Innovations, at the San Diego World Trade Center’s Fourth Annual Global Logistics Symposium today.
Prior to this public presentation, U.S. Department of Commerce Assistant Secretary Israel Hernandez personally congratulated Timely Medical Innovation’s Chairman Andrew Dumke on this important achievement.
The San Diego Area District Export Council established the Award in 2000 in memory of Bill Ivans, who for many years was a tireless advocate for San Diego’s prominent place in global trade.
Richard Forsyth, Chairman of the San Diego Area District Export Council, said, “The Bill Ivans International Trade Award recognizes a company that has recently excelled in exporting, and has used the products and services of the U.S. Department of Commerce to attain significant growth. Timely Medical Innovations is a true local success story.”
Timely Medical Innovations (TMI) of Carlsbad is a manufacturer of disposable medical products that provide personal protection for infection control. TMI started using the services of San Diego’s U.S. Export Assistance Center in 2002, and participated in their business matchmaking program at MEDICA 2007, an annual international medical products exposition in Dusseldorf, Germany. As a result, TMI has signed four distributor agreements and has six agreements pending. The company continues to work through U.S. Commercial Service programs and services to expand their business globally, including MEDICA 2008.
Michael Grad said about the award, "The U.S. Commercial Service has been an invaluable partner in the growth of Timely Medical Innovation’s international distribution channel. Senior International Trade Specialist Rochelle Williams of the San Diego office, as well as many individual country specialists, have proven very responsive and knowledgeable in helping TMI gain introductions within each of their respective geographical areas."
